What We Have Worked On

BQE Community Outreach

Brooklyn-Queens Expressway Corridor Vision

New York City is moving forward to fix the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (BQE) in Brooklyn. Throughout this process, the NYC Department of Transportation will continue with urgent repairs to the Atlantic-to-Sands section to ensure it remains safe. New York City is committed to reconnecting Brooklyn communities divided by the BQE that experience increased noise and air pollution, while also having limited access to jobs and other needed resources.
Bay Ridge Community Development Center is proud to be partnering with the NYC Department of Transportation to advise on and improve transparency around the public engagement process for a preliminary plan to fix a section of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway.

Campish

Summer Campish 2021

In 2021, the Bay Ridge Community Development Center invited the community to our Summer Campish, and here’s what we did. Campish was created to offer our children the means to grow and discover new skills with their peers in a fun and creative physical and social environment, whilst building a community for our children, whether in the summer or winter seasons. Throughout the program, we organized exciting field trips to local parks, museums, and cultural sites, giving children the chance to explore the world beyond their neighborhoods. We led hands-on classes in arts and crafts, science experiments, and team sports, where kids learned new skills and made lasting friendships. And of course, we shared daily meals together, healthy breakfasts, hearty lunches, and fun snack breaks, making sure every child was nourished and ready to participate. That’s exactly what we did, and together, we built a summer of learning, connection, and joy.

Advanced Service

Hearing Screening Services

BRCDC and NYU Langone Health have partnered to develop a new program for low-income immigrant families in the community to educate parents about hearing loss in their children and to connect children with treatment to reduce adverse outcomes. If a family lacks insurance for their child, the program will help them to enroll in free state services, Community-based Outreach: Changing the Model for Hearing Loss Screening. Know Your Rights & Legal Advocacy Services

Legal Know-How. Community Safety. Your Rights.

BRCDC is committed to empowering the Bay Ridge community through legal education and awareness. In response to community needs, we launched a series of civil rights and public safety initiatives designed to help residents understand and protect themselves in critical situations. Community Legal Clinics: We have hosted exclusive sessions with award-winning criminal defense attorneys to educate community members about their constitutional rights during police stops or arrests, helping them act confidently and lawfully. Anti-Bullying & Civil Rights: In partnership with CAIR New York, BRCDC facilitated anti-bullying workshops to address harassment in schools and public spaces, providing families and youth with resources to recognize, report, and prevent discriminatory behavior. These initiatives reflect our ongoing mission to provide community education on legal awareness, personal safety, and equal treatment under the law.
