Vice President

Zein Rimawi

Zein Rimawi is the founder and president of An-Noor Social Center, located in Bay Ridge Brooklyn.  His journey began in Palestine located in the Middle East where he began his education in the field of Science.  After the life altering experiences of war, Zein left his homeland; continuing and completing his studies in Germany and Lebanon.  He finally journeyed to the United States where he set down roots in Bay Ridge Brooklyn.  To Zein, being an Arab-American means not just serving his community, but also aiding in the establishment of organizations that provide help to those in need.  Zein laid the groundwork and built the bridges that an entire community utilizes.  He has founded and worked for many non-profit organizations as well as programs that benefit people.  The following are just a few.

  • Islamic Society of Bay Ridge

  • Arab American Women’s Association

  • Al Noor School

  • Bay Ridge Rehab

  • Arab American Federation

  • Manara Institute

  • Drug Rehab Center

  • Ramadan-Iftar programs

  • Interfaith discussions and programs

Founding and supporting a community center such as BRCDC falls right in line with the kind of work Zein has pursued his entire life as a member of the Brooklyn community.  He believes that BRCDC will not only service to provide programs and outreach, but that it will become a beacon for the underprivileged of the community.  Zein would like to see his community pioneer programs for the handicapped and to give a platform for the voiceless so their needs are being heard and met.  As a long standing founder of the Arab, Muslim community in Brooklyn, Zein believes that this step he is undertaking is just one on the right path towards greater community involvement.  He has spent his entire adult life serving his community and continues to do so each and every day.

In his spare time, Zein loves to play soccer, volleyball, join debates, and most of all work towards innovating new and exciting avenues to tread upon.
